Wedding day
Yesterday was a special day. One of my friends got married. The first one. The first wedding I was invited to not as the daughter of Mr and Mrs X but as "me"!!!
I guess it was the first wedding of a long list to come.
It was all the more special that it was a bilingual wedding. French-American. What a nice association ! The groom was lovely (as well as his American friends!). I particularly like bilingual weddings. They are symbols of tolerance and unconditional love. They are the proof that we're living in a world without (almost) no borders. They are the proof that one can go beyond one's prejudices to discover the truth inside each of us.
I hope to be part of this symbol one day. Because weddings are not only made to party and feel good about yourself. They are also made to build up memories of love and bonding, memories to be remembered for generations, symbols to be looked at with deep respect and understanding.

I've had a wave of weddings -or rather a tidal wave of weddings- these last 3 or 4 years. I haven't been to all of them, but I've been to 12 or so these last years (not ot mention those I was invited but didn't go to!) .
This year so far I was invited to 5 weddings, but only went to 3.
I've got at least 2 or 3 next year. people keep getting engaged!
Recently got an email from a friend who wants me to help him choosing an engagement ring of his girlfriend.
What's the consequence? a baby-boom :) 3 of my friends are pregnant. A baby is due next month (my best friend's), one in November, one in December. Not to mention babies due or born in families I'm less close of.
ok, when's my turn?? dunno!! :+D

Oh to be young again!
I am too old, cynical and bitter to speak like that. I guess I envy you. ;-)

My friends have given up getting married...

Maybe the laws will change one day.

Was invited only once to a wedding as myself, it felt quite weird actually...but have been thinking lately of a bilingual event of the kind that could happen in a few years... (which means, yessss, we can have both the speeches and the soupe à l'oignon! grand!)...!
